Celebrating Student Achievements in 2024

As 2024 draws to a close, it’s time to celebrate the remarkable accomplishments of my students. Their dedication, creativity, and talent have yielded impressive results across various media, from film and games to orchestras and podcasts. Here’s a glimpse into their extraordinary achievements this year.

Jason Leung: Orchestral Dreams Come True

Adylis with the Richmond Symphony Youth Orchestra

Jason debuted as a composer with Adylis, a two-minute piece performed by the Richmond Symphony Youth Orchestra under Hae Lee. This milestone fulfilled Jason’s dream of composing for live orchestras and marked an exciting step in his career. Watch a snippet below:




What Lies in the Weeds

Jason collaborated with director Judy Zhao to score her whimsical and dark animation. This project allowed him to explore dynamic tonal shifts, making it one of his favorite works. View the animation below.

Claudia Andrade: Crafting Memorable Scores

Game Collaboration with Game Devs

Claudia composed the evocative soundtrack for a dramatic player-choice game inspired by The Last of Us. Her track, “Dev’s Theme,” showcases her ability to merge emotional depth with technical prowess. This opportunity arose through our collaboration, and Claudia has truly made the most of it.

Blackbird Podcast Intern 2025

Claudia secured a coveted position as a composer and sound designer for the Blackbird Podcast. This opportunity, beginning in 2025, was a result of my recommendation and her undeniable talent.


Cricket Methods

Another highlight of Claudia’s year was her dramatic score “Cricket Methods,” further solidifying her reputation as a composer with emotional and technical range.


 

Max Kadunce

Media Production Internship at the ICA

Max was selected for a prestigious internship at the Institute for Contemporary Art, where he composed music for podcast audio under Chioke I’Anson. His work here highlights his adaptability and professionalism.

Looking Ahead

2024 has been a year of growth, collaboration, and innovation for my students. Their achievements are a testament to their hard work and dedication.
